The Directorate of Law Enforcement (ED) raided the premises of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister’s Political Advisor Bhupesh Baghel Vinod Verma and a Special Administrative Officer (OSD) on Wednesday, the sources said. They said the businessman’s office in Durg was also searched. The exact case for which the investigation was carried out is not yet known.
In response to ED’s actions, CM Baghel wrote in a sarcastic post on X: “Dear Prime Minister and Mr. Amit Shah!Thank you for the priceless gift you gave me on my birthday by sending an ED to my political adviser, OSD and close associates.”
Some paramilitaries were sighted at the residence of Vinod Verma in the Devendra Nagar officers’ colony in the state capital Raipur.
The Department of Justice is investigating several cases in Chhattisgarh involving allegations of coal fraud, alcohol fraud, irregularities in District Mineral Foundation funds and online gambling claims.
According to the sources, ED has been conducting raids on several locations in Raipur and Durg in the last two days, apparently related to online gambling activities.
